Ever since her release, Zani has completely reshaped how I approach Spectro teams in Wuthering Waves. She’s a 5-star Spectro Resonator who fights with Gauntlets, and honestly, I’ve rarely had this much fun building a character. The best part? Nearly all of her damage comes from Spectro Frazzle, so you don’t need to juggle a dozen mechanics—just stack those debilitating effects and watch enemies melt. Over the past year, I’ve fine-tuned her setups across countless runs, and I’m ready to share the optimal Echo choices, gear, and squad compositions that make her truly shine in 2026.
Echo Sets – The Foundation of Spectro Frazzle Dominance
Choosing the right Echo set is the single most impactful decision for Zani. I’ve tested almost every combination, and one set stands above the rest.
Eternal Radiance is the absolute best-in-slot. The 2-piece bonus grants a healthy Spectro DMG Bonus, which already boosts her baseline output. But the real magic is in the 5-piece effect: it raises Crit Rate whenever you inflict Spectro Frazzle on an enemy, and attacking a target with 10 Frazzle stacks further increases Spectro DMG. Given how naturally Zani accumulates these stacks, you’ll enjoy almost permanent uptime on both buffs. I’ve seen her Crit Rate jump from 50% to over 70% in sustained fights. If you’re serious about maximizing her, this set is non-negotiable.
But what if RNG hasn’t blessed you with a decent Eternal Radiance set yet? That’s where Celestial Light comes in as a solid alternative. Both its 2-piece and 5-piece bonuses provide large Spectro DMG increases, so you won’t lack raw power. The catch is you lose that free Crit Rate, which means you’ll need to compensate with substats on your Echoes. I’d only recommend this as a stepping stone while you farm Eternal Radiance—it works fine, but you’ll feel the difference once you finally swap.
Main Echo and Stats
For the main Echo skill, Capitaneus is my top pick. Activating it gives a noticeable boost to both Spectro DMG Bonus and Heavy Attack DMG Bonus—two stats Zani adores. The Nightmare Mourning Aix offers a simpler Spectro DMG buff and is easier to obtain, so it’s a perfectly functional option while you’re still farming.
Now, when it comes to Echo stats, here’s exactly what I prioritize:

4-cost: Crit Rate or Crit DMG (match this to your weapon’s secondary stat—if you’re using a Crit Rate weapon, go for Crit DMG, and vice versa)

Substats: Crit Rate = Crit DMG > ATK% > Energy Regen > Flat ATK
Getting double Crit on every Echo is the dream, but even one Crit roll on each piece makes a huge difference. Energy Regen is more of a luxury, but it helps smooth out rotations with her Resonance Liberation.
Weapons – From 5-Star Prestige to F2P Gems
Zani’s weapon choice can dramatically alter her performance. I’ve ranked them based on extensive field testing.
Blazing Justice is her signature 5-star Gauntlet and the obvious crown jewel. The massive Crit DMG secondary stat immediately fixes your crit balance, and the passive stacks ATK, increases Spectro Frazzle DMG, and lets her ignore a portion of enemy DEF. It’s tailor-made, and if you managed to pull it, she’ll feel like a completely different character.
Don’t have Blazing Justice? Tragicomedy (originally Roccia’s signature) is a formidable stand-in. It offers Crit Rate as its secondary, which synergizes beautifully if you then equip a Crit DMG 4-cost Echo. The ATK and Heavy Attack DMG bonuses from its passive also directly feed into Zani’s playstyle. It’s not quite as strong, but I’ve cleared the hardest content with it without issue.
Among 4-star options, Stonard leads the pack thanks to its Crit Rate substat. It’s a Battle Pass weapon, though, so I wouldn’t recommend spending just for this. But if you already own it, it competes nicely with the 5-stars until you get one.
For a free-to-play path, Celestial Spiral is your best friend. It’s a straightforward ATK stat stick—no fancy conditions, just a lot of raw ATK that keeps her damage relevant. Any other ATK% Gauntlet can work in a pinch, but Celestial Spiral is the most accessible and consistent.
Skill Upgrade Priority
You want efficiency, so here’s the exact leveling order I follow:

Forte Circuit – This governs her Spectro Frazzle application and core damage loops. Max it first.

Resonance Liberation – Massive burst damage and crit-related synergies. Your second priority.

Resonance Skill – Good supplemental damage and stack generation.

Basic Attack – Decent filler, but leave this for last since her main damage comes from Frazzle-triggered attacks.
I typically stop at level 10 for Forte Circuit and 9–10 for Liberation, then raise Skill to 8 before touching Basics.
Teams – The Spectro Frazzle Circle
Right now, Zani’s teammate pool is narrow because few characters can actually apply or exploit Spectro Frazzle effectively. Here are the lineups I’ve personally cleared endgame content with:

Zani + Phoebe + Shorekeeper – The premium team. Phoebe enables Frazzle stacks and deals solid off-field damage, while Shorekeeper provides healing and universal buffs. My go-to for Tower of Adversity.

Wondering why Phoebe is in almost every team? It’s simple: without her or Spectro Rover, you struggle to reach that crucial 10-stack threshold quickly. Until more Spectro Frazzle enablers drop in future patches, Phoebe remains Zani’s best partner. I’m personally hoping for a new 4-star Spectro support soon!
Building Zani is refreshingly straightforward once you understand her damage revolves around Spectro Frazzle. Farm Eternal Radiance relentlessly, secure a solid Gauntlet (her signature if possible, or Tragicomedy/Stonard), and pair her with allies who can stack that Frazzle.
